Churchill Home Care understands that not everyone experiences the same symptoms of Parkinson’s and not all with the same severity. That’s why we tailor our Parkinson’s Care Plans based on individual needs.
Parkinson’s affects motor skills, speech and other functions, this neurological condition is progressive and can get worse as it develops. Typically people with Parkinson’s experience tremors, slowness of movements as well as the rigidity of muscles, as well as adverse effects to sleep, memory and mood. These can make everyday tasks a challenge, Churchill Home Care offers Parkinson’s Care to help those who suffer from it remain in their own homes to continue enjoying their life, on their terms.
Parkinson’s affects everyone in different ways, the most commonly associated symptoms that are associated with Parkinson’s affect motor skills (movement.) Which include:
Tremors – This causes involuntary shaking in parts of the body such as the hands. ‘Essential Tremors’ are the most common type and are noticeable whilst moving. ‘Parkinson’s Tremors’ are resting tremors which are experienced while the body is relaxed.
Slowness of Movement – This mainly affects walking, which typically entails short, shuffling steps. It also can take longer to do everyday things and can affect coordination.
Rigidity – This affects the muscles and can prevent them from stretching and relaxing, causing inflexible muscles, stiff muscles and muscle cramps. It can also affect the ability to move properly such as being able to get out of a chair or turn over in bed.
Other symptoms that aren’t related to motor skills can include trouble with speech and communication skills, fatigue, depression, dizziness, eye problems, bladder problems and bowel problems.
Churchill Home Care provides Parkinson’s Care at home, allowing people who are living with Parkinson’s to continue living an independent life in the comfort of their own homes.
